Habitat Charlotte Homeowner Sponsored HouseOur current homeowners need your help!!!Our homeowners are so thankful for all of the positive changes and effects that Habitat homeownership has had on their lives, and they want to help another family acquire the dream of homeownership and experience the pride and stability that comes along with Habitat homeownership. To do this they need your help! Below are upcoming fundraisers to help the homeowners reach their goal of $60,000 to build the Habitat Charlotte Homeowner Sponsored House. Please join us in supporting our homeowners! Build-a-House Benefit Concert - We have our first ever Build-a-House Benefit Concert coming up on Saturday, May 31 from 2 - 9 p.m. at Murphy's Tavern on 131 E. Woodlawn Rd. Join us for live music ranging from blues to 70's cover band and folk. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated! Autobell Carwash Tickets - We are currently selling tickets for $12.95 for an interior and exterior carwash at Autobell. Habitat Charlotte homeowners paid over $560,000 in property taxes in 2007. Habitat homeowners pay a recylced mortgage which means each time they pay their monthly interest free mortgage, they are helping to raise the money to build a future Habitat Charlotte home. Nearly 100 of our 775 homeowners have completely paid off their mortgages. Children that come from a family that owns a home rather than rents are 20% more likey to graduate from high school, 62% more likely to acquire postsecondary education and have early adult earnings that are 24% higher (Journal of Housing Research, Fannie Mae Foundation 2003).
